Terms of use

Housitters is a free platform that helps people who need someone to look after their home and pets (“hosts”) meet people who want to do so (“sitters”). We provide the tools to find each other and talk. We are not a party to any arrangement between members, we do not employ sitters, and we do not inspect homes.

• You must be at least 18 years old to use Housitters.
• Give accurate information about yourself, your home and your pets, and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• One person, one account. Do not create an account for someone else without their permission.

To keep Housitters kind and useful, you agree not to:

• Post anything false, misleading, offensive, discriminatory or illegal.
• Harass, threaten or spam other members, or use their details for anything other than arranging a sit.
• Ask for or offer payment for sits through the platform, or use Housitters to advertise commercial services.
• Write reviews about sits that did not happen, or reviews of yourself.
• Try to access other accounts, scrape the site, or interfere with how it works.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Every arrangement is made directly between the host and the sitter. Before you agree to a sit, we strongly recommend that you:

• Read the other member’s profile and reviews, and talk to them in advance.
• Meet in person or by video call before handing over keys.
• Agree in writing on dates, pet care, house rules and emergency contacts.
• Hosts: check that your home insurance covers someone staying in your home, and leave your vet’s details.

Housitters does not verify identities beyond email, does not run background checks, and does not provide insurance or guarantees of any kind.

You keep ownership of the photos, text and reviews you post. You give us permission to display them on Housitters so the service can work, for as long as they are on the site. Only post content you have the right to share.

Housitters is provided “as is”. We work to keep it available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for the conduct of members, or for any loss, damage or injury to people, pets or property arising from a sit or from contact made through the platform.

You can stop using Housitters and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put other members at risk.

We may update these terms. If changes are meaningful, we will update the date above and let members know. These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Housitters is established.
